From school rebel to A+ Oxford student
"From the age of 14, I was a rebel in school. I was always chucked out of lessons as I was constantly making trouble and arguing with the teachers. I had five lessons a day, but I was sent out of class for bad behaviour; and my grades were terrible. My parents were very disappointed with me, especially my mum who didn’t know what to do anymore. To make matters worst I was hanging around the wrong crowd and bullying other students."
David was attending the UCKG HelpCentre at the time but refused to change, until one day he realised that he was hurting his parents and needed to do something about his future.
"My parents worked really hard to send me to private school, and here I was messing around and getting into trouble. I felt like a failure as I was heading for a destructive future, so I made a decision to change.
I started attending the Victory Youth Group, and through practical teachings and regular mentoring, I started to focus on the things that were important in life. I worked really hard to get my grades up in school and later applied for one of the best universities in the UK.
Today I am studying at Oxford University and have big dreams for my future. My parents are really proud of me and I am really happy with my achievements so far. I have peace in my heart and don’t feel the need to follow the crowd, as I am my own person."
