In just four months UCKG members and pastors raised £1.6million and saved the Peckham HelpCentre at 176 Rye Lane from closure.
We did this in order to retain a highly effective community hub, where every year for the last ten years, thousands of people have found hope and practical help.
Problems have been solved and lives rebuilt through
- Assistance for families that have broken down and become dysfunctional
- Counselling and advice, available seven days a week
- A Sunday School for 70 children
- Provision of a vibrant youth group attended by 100 young men and women.
Although we raised £1.6m to purchase the building on Rye Lane, we now have to continue our fundraising so that we can refurbish the building and create a new and greatly improved Youth Centre.
This Youth Centre will be focused on training, academic excellence, and life skills, although there will be light-hearted moments, too. We believe the project will give the young men and women of Peckham a head-start for productive and happier lives, perhaps putting them in the headlines for all the right reasons.
