Peckham’s gang problem seems to be escalating out of control. With increasing reports of stabbings and shooting, it's streets are turning into a breeding ground for ‘olders’ to recruit bored disenfranchised youths into their gangs.
While youth centres and other organisations are wrecking their brains to solve this problem with little or no success, the UCKG's Victory Youth Group (VYG) seems to be onto a winning formula.
For many young people, the HelpCentre has been like a second home - a place where they’ve found the help, guidance, support and strength to get out of destructive a lifestyle and start again.
Meet Joshua Glenn & Deji Adeshina who are members of the VYG in Peckham. The picture maybe a perfect snap shot of happiness, but they were once involved in the dark realities of street life in Peckham.
Watch this video and hear why their HelpCentre
CANNOT close down.
